Beautiful floral arrangements including a sweet-smelling bridal bouquet by Carper’s Florist in Winchester, VA.
I love when my couples put pictures of loved ones who have passed in their proper seat during the ceremony. I love the black and white shot below of Jessica coming down the aisle as her mom’s wedding photograph looked on during this special moment in Jessica’s life.
I like letting the couple get a little head start to our hideaway area before their wedding party and family comes to greet them. Sometimes I hold off the family/party intentionally just so I can capture this moment of raw happy emotion without anyone interrupting them!
Still, one of my fave parts of the day is this:
We only had 13 minutes for bride and groom portraits after the ceremony (that includesd the 8 minutes it took to get the golf carts from the ceremony location to the last picture location!), so we went out right after dinner for 7 more minutes of pictures. If it weren’t for those pesky golf cart governors, we could have squeezed in another 3 minutes, haha! I could shoot here for hours, but I will take 7 minutes any chance I get!
This beautiful woman wrote the most moving piece of poetry. Jessica’s mom recently passed and Jessica is fortunate enough to have another family who became her rock during that hard time. She affectionately considers Tanya her mom, and the love between Tanya’s family and Jessica is rock solid. Now, I still cry at most weddings, that’s no secret. This, however, totally ruined my makeup! She has inspired me to write a letter to my own daughter that has all the feels. (totally crying right now just remembering this speech!)
Shoe game (thankfully, not with their actual shoes!)
Once the formal events of the reception were over, I loved how colorful the room became. I ended up doing a second ring shot because I wanted to subtly incorporate that color into a glitzy version of the ring shot that could match their reception’s party mood. I had a couple of guests (and a Bowling Green employee) give me very strange looks as I shot this ring shot since I was using a coffee pot, an upside down saucer, a cd, my phone and a flash. I wonder what they were thinking?!?
Greg always knows how to read a crowd and get everyone on the dance floor without being cheesy!
